As part of their transition from Primary School only to an R-12 School, Encounter Lutheran School wished to up-grade its existing website to portray a more polished feel. Looking to the future they also wished to make their site easier to manage so it could become the centre piece for their school community; a place for parents, students and staff to get up-to-date information on what is happening at Encounter.
For this project we designed several different page layouts in order to match the variety of information Encounter wished to convey. This design flexibility streamlines the process of ensuring clear communication with site visitors.
We also included a Calendar which automatically links with an events list page display. Different types of events, such as Religion or Community are colour coded to make the Calendar easier to read. Newsletters are available for download with the addition of a block on the home page which automatically displays the lastest Newsletter for download without extra configuration by site editors, simplifying site up-keep.
As the main focus of the schooling community is its students, the design needed to allow the school to showcase the facilities available to their students. By using a design with a large photo banner at the top of the page we are able to visually highlight aspects of student life. As a default the banner of any parent page is set to automatically display on the child pages, however overiding this is an easy edit should a different photo be required.
The design is clear and professional allowing the content to be the main focus of the website, making the site a platform for communication and community.
