The focus of this build was clarity, ease of maintenance and, vitally, accessibility. The Julia Farr Association works with people who live with a disability, and helps them to establish confidence, acceptance and independence.

The Julia Farr Association were ready to update the look, feel and functionality of their website. Working with a design by Scott Hutton from Twenty20 Graphics we created their new website.

The focus of this build was clarity, easy of maintenance and, vitally, accessibility. The Julia Farr Association works with people who live with a disability, and helps them to establish confidence, acceptance and independence. To this end, it was imperative that their website be highly accessible. The site uses high contrast in colours and is screen reader compatible to aid those with visual impairment in its use.

The Julia Farr Association also wished to be fully in control of the updating and editing of content on their site. The website is an information platform, so new additions to the text, files and imagery are made regularly. Concrete5's editing system suits this purpose well, allowing the association to maintain their site with ease.

Some of the key features of this website are:

  • a dynamic header on the main page to highlight the key developments for the Julia Farr Association,
  • clear sidebar navigation for all inner pages,
  • the inclusion of a file block to display files clearly,
  • highly accessible,
  • the automatic resizing of images to fit the design,
  • social media links,
  • facility for the addition of media releases and news items,
  • custom block for staff profiles,
  • interactive maps,
  • quick links to key pages on the right.

Of particular interest to us was accessibility for people living with disability, and Scott and Ryan have exceeded our expectations in striving for leading practice in this arena.

What an outstanding job our designer and developer have done. Scott was our designer from Twenty20 Graphics, and he partners with Ryan and Lelita at Mesuva Web Development.

Nothing has been too much trouble for Scott and Ryan, and they have an excellent grasp not only of their fields, but also of the challenges faced by not for profit organisations in clearly developing and communicating their message, as well as the need to future proof the web environment.

Of particular interest to us was accessibility for people living with disability, and Scott and Ryan have exceeded our expectations in striving for leading practice in this arena.

While we have been building the sites, communication has been easy, constant and informative... and there isn’t much that Ryan can’t do around websites, databases etc.
