We have recently gone live with the redevelopment of the Goolwa Regatta Yacht Club’s website. For this site, we worked to design a layout that would best present the large amount of information the club had on its existing site.
We focused on creating a site that would be attractive and very representational of the club, whilst being able to be comfortably viewed by users still on dialup or on mobile broadband.
The site features photo galleries with lightbox effects, automatically updating lists of recent news and race results, live weather information, an embedded google calendar, a map of the club as well as a full site search (useful if a member wants to search for their boat in the race results).
For this site, we used Concrete5 as the content management system, allowing the management at the club to edit the content easily. Concrete5 also allowed us to create restricted logins for different responsibilities. So for example we created a ‘race result’ login that can only manage the pages related to the race results. This makes the task much easier as all other options are hidden.
For us, we feel it is a great showcase of many of the features we can easily add to a website and we have also enjoyed working on such an interesting project.
