Victorian school Plenty Parklands Primary School was ready to update their school website. They wanted a clearly navigable but visually fun website that would be easy to edit and maintain.

Again, thanks a lot. And thanks to everyone at Mesuva for all the great work.

We all really appreciate it and are very happy with the new site, and all the help you've given us. We couldn't have asked for more.

School websites are unique in that whilst there is an element of advertising involved, school websites are more about the promotion of school events and sharing of information with parents, families, students and staff. To this end the Plenty Parklands Primary School website needed to be easy and quick to update for administration staff, so that the content on the site could remain up to date.

Design

We worked with James Leech of James Leech Design and Communication in Queensland on the design. James created a vibrant and visually engaging design, that also clearly displays content and information.

Calendar System

To easily manage the display of school events we used our custom build calendaring system. This system uses concrete5’s composer feature to input events. An administrator simply fills out a form on the website to publish the event to the calendar and page displays across the site.

The events are then displayed as a list on the home page and on the News and Events page automatically. The events are also displayed on a full calendar view. The events themselves also have a page for extended details and an iCal file which can be downloaded by viewers.

Easy Editing with concrete5

Our clients find editing their concrete5 based websites intuitive and easy.  Plenty Parklands Primary School was no exception. From our provided 'Quick Start' guide they were quickly confident in the management of their new site, allowing them full control of the website, making it an easy to update information platform for the school.

Mobile responsive

It is likely that visitors to Primary School websites will be viewing the site from portable devices like iPads or mobile phones, parents checking event details or contact details whilst on the run for example.

To ensure the site remained easy to view on any sized screen we developed the site to be fully mobile responsive. The content re-flows to display clearly on any screen size. This is preferable to developing a separate mobile-ready website as the content on the website does not need to be entered in two places. The Plenty Parklands website is itself mobile ready.

Mailchimp Integration

Plenty Parklands Primary School required a newsletter sign up on the website for families to access newsletters via email. They chose to use Mailchimp for this mail out. Mailchimp sign ups are easy to integrate on concrete5 websites. In only a few minutes we integrated this sign up and ensured the form was styled to suit the rest of the website.
